Entering the United States:
To enter the United States from Africa, you may need the following documents. These tips are given for information purpose only, please check for your particular case.
- Passport: A valid passport is required to enter the United States of America. Make sure it is valid for the duration of your stay.
- B1/B2 Visa: Depending on your citizenship and the reason for your trip, you may need a valid visa to enter the United States of America. You will need to apply for an appropriate visa, such as a business visa (B-1), tourist visa (B-2), etc. See https://travel.state.gov for official information.
- ESTA: If you are a national of a country participating in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), you may be eligible to apply for an ESTA electronic travel authorization at least 15 days before your departure. This mainly applies to travelers for tourism or business stays of 90 days or less. This is mostly the case of European Union citizens. See https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov for official information.
- Airline ticket: You may need proof of your return or onward airfare to another destination after your stay in the United States of America.
- Proof of funds: It may be helpful to show that you have enough funds to cover your expenses while in the United States of America including travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
- Proof of accommodation: Proof of accommodation may be requested.
- Letter of invitation for our official sponsors: If you are traveling for specific reasons such as a conference, event or visiting friends or family, a letter of invitation or support from your host in the United States States may be required. We provide, upon request, an invitation letter to all of our official sponsors. To become a Sponsor, contact us.
- Other documents: Depending on your personal situation and the reason for your trip, other documents may be required, such as proof of employment, proof of education, medical documents, etc.

Rules and procedures may vary, so make sure you are well informed before traveling to the United States of America.
